Puffin Saco. With its 12.5 ft length, the Saco offers good paddling performance. It tracks well and easily keeps pace with other kayaks of similar size. Very light 20-pound weight makes it much more responsive than similar plastic kayaks, weighing more than twice as much. Use it without a deck to go fishing or with a deck for more protection (deck is optional, not included in purchase price). The Saco can carry camping gear for a few days and it is a delightful kayak if you just want to go exploring for the day.

The Puffin Kayaks represent a new generation in folding boat design and draw on over 30 years of varied experience. Structurally, Puffins are a blend of aluminum frame and inflatable construction. Dual-cell inflatable tubes on each side between the skin and the frame provide skin tension and ample secure flotation in case of a capsize. An internal aluminum frame gives the hull efficient lines that could not be achieved with an inflatable structure alone. Another advantage of Puffin’s hybrid design is the weight. Similar size inflatable kayaks typically weigh 50% more.

Since 1995 Pakboats has been designing and manufacturing a wide range of folding canoes, folding kayaks, and accessories. In everything they do, they strive to provide the most functional gear possible at a fair price. Pakboats can be fit on top of a car just as easily as hard kayaks, but their lighter weight makes it easier to get them up there and their paddling performance is also similar to hard kayaks (and much better than inflatables), except that the lightweight makes a Pakboat more responsive. Canoes and kayaks that you can pack for travel are generally folding or inflatable. Both have their special advantages, and Pakboats combine the best features of both. In each Pakboat, a complete aluminum frame provides efficient lines and rigidity, while inflatable tubes provide tensioning and flotation. The combination of frame and inflatable tubes make a much more compact structure than air alone, and a Pakboat has much more interior space than a similar size inflatable canoe or kayak. The unique Pakboats structures are also much lighter and pack smaller. Similar size inflatables weigh about 50% more than a Pakboat.
